Go 'Green' -- Get Unusual Gifts & Donate to Charity

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. -- A new fundraising company, called Greenraising, has launched a website where shoppers can find interesting and unusual gifts that are all eco-friendly and fairly traded. In addition, every visitor to the website can choose from more than 60 schools and non-profits to receive 25% of their purchase price.
Company co-founder Lisa Olson realized that there was a desire among
parents to make "greener" choices, but that time was limited and
information scarce. She created http://www.greenraising.com to help
families go green and raise money for schools.
"For us, the inspiration for Greenraising came from our own children,"
said Olson. "We saw them coming home selling cookie dough and magazines to
raise money for their schools and thought that there must be a better way."
Olson found a variety of great products that help people to reduce, reuse,
and recycle resources.
"Best of all, they raise money for non-profits and teach the children
that they can make a positive difference in the world," Olson says.
Greenraising carries a full line of products, from reusable grocery
bags to multi-use water bottles to all-natural cleaning supplies and
lotions. There is fair trade chocolate that also raises funds for art
education, lunch boxes made from recycled drink containers, and
eco-friendly cleaning supplies. Among other items, it features jewelry from
women's cooperatives in Guatemala.
Participating charities include schools from 22 states and the District
of Columbia; a grass-roots organization in Venice, California that provides
food and clothing to the homeless; The Sequoia Natural History Association,
which provides visitor education for Sequoia National Park; a Wisconsin
organization that helps people with cognitive disabilities; a rabbit rescue
organization; and many others.
