Pooch Ranks High on Holiday Shopping List

KENNESAW, Ga. -- As shoppers add pets to their growing list of gift recipients, the most celebrated will join the likes of
Tinkerbell Hilton and Honeychild Richie with owners avoiding the hectic holiday hassles and relying on the Internet for the latest "must haves."
According to gift search site FindGift.com, http://www.findgift.com,
pet and pet lover gift searches for the holidays are already up 30% from
last year.
"Undoubtedly, part of this trend is the increased media exposure that
pets of the rich and famous continue to receive. On the other hand, the
amount of creative and fun pet products that are now available online is
also likely a key driver of demand," said Bob Zakrzewski, co-founder of
FindGift.com.
"In fact, we've made Pet / Pet Lover a top level search option in our
Gift Wizard putting it on equal footing with Her, Him, Couple, and Family,"
continued Zakrzewski. "Of the leading gift search sites, we are the only
one that does that."
On FindGift.com, there are over 900 holiday gifts for pets and pet
lovers. Some of the more notable ones include:
-- CatGenie litter box that actually flushes
-- Bark-a-rita Margarita dog bowl gift set
-- Small wooden Adirondack outdoor pet chair
-- Personalized paw shaped dog or cat stocking
-- Princess Heart Dog Feeder
With gifts like these, a pampered pet doesn't need to have a famous
owner to feel like a celebrity. Is all this pampering necessary?
"Absolutely," says Kelly McConnell of FindGift.com. "Why not? Parry, my
pound puppy, is my baby, so without question, he gets an extra special
holiday present or two of his own. I even wrap it with scented wrapping
paper, and that makes it really exciting to watch him open it. With all of
this pampering, he doesn't even know he's a dog."
So what's next - a gift registry for your pet? While FindGift.com has
yet to see gift registries dedicated exclusively to pets, they have seen
nearly a 100% increase in pet related items added to their member's
registries.
It could be only a matter of time.
